Brass Slug Box Iron, Turn of the Century, Wooden Handle, 1910s

This antique clothes iron from the turn of the century made ironing a breeze, or so they thought! There were iron slugs that you would heat on the fire and insert in the back end to give you 'pressing power'. Unfortunately, there is no slug, but it's a great decor piece or a unique holiday gift!
It's small at 4"l x 2"w x 3 1/2"h, probably for ironing cuffs and collars. The back portion lifts easily and holds in place well; a few dings and scratches but it has a nice patina.
